A total of 6,579 vacancies from forty-two (42) employers were made available to the locals of Ilocos Norte during the Jobs Fair sponsored by the Provincial Government headed by Governor Imee Marcos and through the assistance of DOLE-Ilocos Norte Field Office on May 25, 2012 at the Centennial Arena in Laoag City.
Members of the Regional Coordinating Council such as POEA, OWWA, and TESDA also attended to provide the jobseekers with their key services.
Through the widespread information dissemination made by the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the extensive advocacy of ABS-CBN-Laoag, a total of 1,552 job applicants signed up for the job fair with high hopes of securing a job fit for their qualifications.
Due to the continuous pour of investments in the province, bulk of the job vacancies came from new establishments such as SM Hypermarket and Savemore. Out of the 227 applicants interviewed, SM Hypermarket immediately hired 116 to fill various positions in their new shopping center. Overall, 199 jobseekers landed instant jobs which include the following positions: call center agent, quality assurance officer, cashier, HR assistant, sales agent, and accounting staff.
“After the success of the Labor Day Jobs Fair, more jobs fair are on queue for Region 1. The next mega job fair will actually happen on June 12 in celebration of the National Independence Day. The Independence Day job fair will be a collaboration of different government agencies, educational institutions, local government units (LGUs), and private institutions all for the aim of continuously providing important services especially employment facilitation to the locals of the Ilocos Region,” Dir. Grace Y. Ursua said.

June 2 – STI, Bantay, Ilocos Sur
June 12 - CSI, San Fernando City, La Union
June 12-13 – Nepo Mall, Dagupan City
June 15- Infanta, Pangasinan
