Lingayen night jobs fair now on its second

After the successful turnout of the first, the Pangasinan Public Employment Service Office (PESO) is set to stage the second night jobs fair on Labor Day.

The night jobs fair which was touted as “another first in the history of the DOLE, will still run from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight at the provincial PESO compound in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

DOLE-RO I Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra said some 23 local and overseas employers have been invited to participate and offer at least 6,000 jobs.

He said examples of the top local vacancies are customer and technical service representatives, accountants and accounting assistants, production operators, market developers, cahiers, welders and pharmacists and pharmacy assistants. Overseas jobs, on the other hand, include registered nurses and allied professions, salon and factory workers.

“Once again, the Pangasinan PESO is opening its facilities for jobseekers who want to avoid the scorching heat of the summer sun, or who might have other appointments at daytime.  They will even be treated to free coffee to keep them alert while job hunting,” the regional director said.

This year’s theme, “Matatag na Kabuhayan at Trabaho Tungo sa Progresibong Pagbabago”, underscores the agency’s role in the achievement of decent work and economic growth as enshrined in the TNK.  The said concept is a blueprint in achieving full employment at 5% unemployment rate by creating 7.5 million jobs mainly in key employment generating sectors (KEGS) specifically in the manufacturing, agri-business, construction, tourism, IT-BPM, transportation and logistics, and retail trade.

One-stop employment and legal services will also be made available by agencies such as POEA, OWWA, TESDA, PRC, NCMB, NLRC, RTWBP, SSS, Philhealth and Pag-IBIG for more comprehensive services to job seekers, new graduates and workers re-entering the labor market.

“I encourage all jobseekers, workers and the general public to avail of the various services during the event,” Director Lacambra said. END/Arly Sta. Ana-Valdez
