“Pantawid” beneficiaries in Bacnotan, La Union receive P600-K worth NegoKart assistance from DOL

Some 40 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries in Bacnotan, La Union yesterday received P600 thousand worth of livelihood assistance from the DOLE-RO I’s Negosyo sa Kariton (NegoKart) project.

Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra handed the check representing the assistance to Vice-Mayor Minda Fontanilla at the Bacnotan municipal hall.  The simple awarding ceremony was also attended by DOLE-La Union Field Office head Agnes Aguinaldo, Labor and Employment Officer Janet Mendoza and some municipal employees.

“We help our marginalized sectors improve their plights by engaging them in self-employment undertakings such as the NegoKart,” Director Lacambra said.

He said the NegoKart aims to make the income of the beneficiaries at par with the salaries of minimum wage earners.

The assistance will be used for the purchase of vending carts and enrolment of the beneficiaries in micro insurance.  The local government unit of Bacnotan will provide for the beneficiaries’ trainings on business management, proper food preparation, handling and sanitation and business permits.  END/Arly Sta.
