Over 20-K jobs to be offered on Labor Day


Focusing on jobs and business opportunities, this year’s Labor Day Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) will be offering around 20,500 local and overseas vacancies for jobseekers. 

The Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office I has invited 69 local and 17 overseas employers to make available 16,845 and 3,738 jobs, respectively, in three venues on May 1.  

The activities will herald the theme, “Pagpupugay sa Manggagawang Pilipino: Dangal ng Lahi, Kabalikat sa Progresibong Pagbabago” to underscore the important role of Filipino workers in the overall development framework of the present administration. 

The jobs and business fair at the Urdaneta City Cultural and Sports Center will be participated in by 40 companies with 8,906 vacancies.  Some 27 employers will be at the Robinsons Place in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte to offer 6,162 jobs.  On its third year, the night jobs and business fair at the Pangasinan Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in Lingayen, Pangasinan will bring together at least 19 establishments with 5,515 jobs up for grabs. 

As of April 26, the local occupations with the most number of vacancies are the following: production crew, Police Office I Special Action Force (SAF), skilled construction workers0,1 0sales/stock clerk, cashier, customer service representative, security guard, bagger, service/dining crew and steelman.  For overseas, the most number of vacancies are factory/production worker, female cleaner, restaurant worker, waiter/waitress/cook/steward, welder, asphalt worker, nurse, restaurant supervisor, technician and family driver. 

According to the DOLE-RO I, those who are interested in putting up their businesses can join the business counseling sessions to be conducted by the DTI. 

Jobseekers and workers may also avail of one-stop employment and legal services to be provided by agencies such as POEA, OWWA, TESDA, PRC, NCMB, NLRC, RTWBP, SSS, Philhealth and Pag-IBIG. END/Arly Sta. Ana-Valdez
