311 hired on the spot at Labor Day job and business fairs


Some 311 applicants were hired during the Labor Day job and business fairs conducted in the region on May 1, the Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office I today announced. 

Those hired on the spot comprise 22% of the 1,427 jobseekers who trooped to the three job fairs held in celebration of the 116th Philippine Labor Day.  

Focusing on jobs and business opportunities, this year’s Labor Day Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) gathered 107 local and overseas employers offering around 31,763 vacancies. 

The jobs and business fair at the Urdaneta City Cultural and Sports Center was participated in by 40 companies with 16,309 vacancies.  Some 44 employers were at the Robinsons Place in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte to offer 9,430 jobs.  The night job market at the PESO, Lingayen, Pangasinan brought together 23 establishments with 6,024 jobs up for grabs.  

A total of 106 persons who were interested to venture into business joined the Department of Trade and Industry’s business counselling sessions. 

Workers and jobseekers were also assisted with their employment concerns through one-stop services provided by agencies such as POEA, OWWA, TESDA, PRC, NCMB, NLRC, RTWBP, SSS, Philhealth and Pag-IBIG. 

“We express our gratitude to everyone who supported our Labor Day events to ensure that service delivery is maximized for the benefit of jobseekers and workers,” DOLE-RO I Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra said.  

This year’s Labor Day celebration was anchored on the theme: “Pagpupugay sa Manggagawang Pilipino: Dangal ng Lahi, Kabalikat sa Progresibong Pagbabago” to underscore the important role of Filipino workers in the overall development framework of the present administration. END/Arly Sta. Ana-Valdez
