20,000 jobs await jobseekers at Labor Day job and business fairs in Ilocos Region


About 20,000 jobs will be up for grabs at three major job fairs being organized by the Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office 1 in celebration of Labor Day.             

DOLE-RO I Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra said two job fairs will be simultaneously held at Robinsons, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte and Magic Mall, Urdaneta City from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The night jobs fair at the Pangasinan PESO compound, Lingayen, Pangasinan will run from 5:00 p.m. to 12 midnight. 

He said at least 70 local employers and licensed recruitment agencies which will make available at least 8,000 vacancies at the Magic Mall jobs fair. Some 50 local employers and licensed recruitment agencies will offer 5,000 vacancies at the San Nicolas jobs fair; while at least 21 local employers and licensed recruitment agencies are expected to generate around 7,000 vacancies at the night jobs fair.

“Labor Day is a fitting opportunity to recognize the valuable contribution of our workers in the development of the country and to muster greater support from various sectors to further the goals of decent work,” Director Lacambra said. 

He said the job fairs are part of the DOLE’s continuing efforts to shorten jobseekers’ search for employment by bringing in one venue companies which are in need of workers. 

“The DOLE works to make it easy and fast for jobseekers to find jobs that fit their qualifications, interests and career inclinations; while helping employers find the right applicants for their manpower needs,” the Regional Director said. 

The Robinsons and Magic Mall job fairs will feature top local vacancies such as production operators, customer service representatives and technical support representatives, while overseas job orders are topped by skilled construction workers, hotel and restaurant workers, and other skilled workers. 

“Various services will be made available for the diverse needs of workers, including jobseekers and fresh graduates.  We are encouraging all of them to take advantage of the opportunities to be offered,” Director Lacambra said. 

One-stop employment services will be provided by the Social Security System, Philhealth, Pag-IBIG, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Professional Regulation Commission, National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board and National Labor Relations Commission. END/Arly Sta.
