DOLE-RO I thanks partners for 270 HOTS on Kalayaan Day

Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra commended all program partners in the recently concluded Kalayaan job and business fairs which successfully hired 270 applicants.

The DOLE-RO I, in partnership with local government units, Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs), local and overseas employers and other government agencies, held three job and business fairs on June 12 to mark the 121st celebration of Philippine Independence Day.

“It is a fulfilling task to be able to free job applicants from joblessness. I extend my sincerest appreciation to everyone who has lent their support,” Director Lacambra said.

The job and business fairs were conducted in Candon City, Ilocos Sur; San Fernando City, La Union, and Dagupan City.

“The celebration of the 2019 Kalayaan was an opportunity to deliver the DOLE’s labor and employment agenda, the Regional Director said.

The consolidated reports on the job fairs bared a total 1,847 applicants and 103 employers offering 10,659 vacancies.

“We look forward to receiving reports on additional new hires from our participating employers to increase the number of employed persons here in the region,” he said.

He also thanked the Department of Trade and Industry for providing business opportunity counselling for those who cannot find wage employment and opt to venture into self-employment.

One-stop employment services were likewise provided by the Social Security System, Philhealth, Pag-IBIG, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Professional Regulation Commission, DTI and Department of Social Welfare and Development.  END/Arly Sta.
