DOLE Awards P1.7M Livelihood Aid to Farmer Groups in Laoac, Pangasinan

 

 
 
The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office I (DOLE ROI) turned over the livelihood amount of P1,776,000 to LGU Laoac, Pangasinan, on April 27, 2021, to benefit 12 farmer associations in the town. 
 
Under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP), the amount serves to aid the livelihood of 322 marginalized and landless farmers, women, and senior citizens, through the procurement of 12 units of hand tractor, heavy-duty trailer and motor engine. 
 
DOLE RO1 Regional Director Atty. Evelyn Ramos led the turnover of the check to LGU Laoac Mayor Ricardo Balderas, witnessed by Vice Mayor Nelson Gayo, PESO Manager Gina Castillo and Project Coordinator Nobenflor Acosta.  As the accredited Co-Partner of the program, the LGU doled out P414,634 to fund the improvement of the farming implements’ storage area, training expenses, GSIS premiums, and monitoring and evaluation costs. Meanwhile, the beneficiaries’ counterpart of P150,000.00 will be used for fuel and filter expenses.
 
 “Ang DOLE ay nagbibigay buhay sa naghahanaphuhay.” RD Ramos remarked, as she emphasized DOLE’s vital role in assisting formal and informal workers recover from the COVID-19 crisis.  She encouraged the beneficiaries to be good stewards of the project, which can be key to sustain their economic competence.
 
DOLE Eastern Pangasinan Field Office (EPFO) Head Darwin Hombrebueno reiterated to the beneficiaries that a project well-managed is a sign of self-governance and integrity. “Having these right attitudes could lead you to greater opportunities,” DOLE EPFO Head said.
