DOLE Offers Free BOSH Training for SO1 in Region 1
The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 1 (DOLE RO1) is offering free training course for Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) for Safety Officer 1 (SO1) for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Region 1, for a series of sessions slated this July to September 2021.
The training shall be held online, in view of the restrictions set by the standing health protocols.
DOLE Regional Director Atty. Evelyn Ramos said the free training aims to help MSMEs comply with the government’s requirements on Occupational Safety and Health, as implemented by the DOLE.
BOSH for SO1 is an eight-hour OSH orientation plus two-hour Training of Trainers designed to impart knowledge and skills on basic concepts and principles of occupational safety and health to enable potential safety officers (SO1 Certification) to implement their respective company's safety and health program.
Under OSH Law, companies classified as low-risk (with 1-50 workers) or medium risk (with 1-9 workers) are required to designate SO1.
Qualified to join the free training, and eventually become SO1-certified, are employees in MSMEs with classifications cited above. The participants should be duly endorsed by their employers/companies, which should be based within Region 1. Companies with OSH deficiencies as identified through DOLE’s labor inspection initiatives, shall be given priority.
The schedules of the SO1 online training courses are as follows: July 27-28 and August 10-11, 2021 for participants from Ilocos Norte; September 14-15, 2021 for Ilocos Sur; and, July 20-21 and August 3-4, 2021 for La Union.
For Pangasinan, participants from Districts 1-2 are scheduled on July 27-28; August 31 – September 1; and September 28-29, 2021. For Districts 3-4, the online courses are on August 24-25 and September 21-22, 2021; and August 17-18 and September 7-8, 2021 for Districts 5-6.
Screened and confirmed participants shall be required to have the following: laptop/desktop computers with working webcam and microphones (mobile devices such as phones and tablets shall not be allowed); Spreadsheet and presentation viewing/editing program (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint); stable internet connection; a Gmail account; Zoom account/application; 2x2 ID picture; and a scanned copy of the company ID.
