DOLE Pays Wages of 1,744 TUPAD Workers in Ilocos Norte
Some 1,744 low-income workers under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program in the Province of Ilocos Norte received their wages in a series of payout ceremonies spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office I (DOLE ROI).
Workers from Dingras, Banna, Marcos, and San Nicolas received their wages on July 21, 2021; Batac, Paoay, Currimao, Badoc and Pinili on July 22; Burgos, Bangui, Pasuquin, Piddig and Dingras on July 23; and in Bacarra, Laoag City, and Vintar on July 24. 
Each of the workers received P5.400 wage after completing 16-day community cleaning and disinfection services.  
To protect them in their discharge of duties, the TUPAD workers were also given Personal Protective Equipment and micro-insurance.
DOLE Ilocos Norte Field Office led by Chief Susan Maynes facilitated the payout in various schedules. Local officials witnessed the distribution of wages; they are First District Congw. Ria Fariñas, Second District Cong. Angelo Marcos Barba; Probinsiyano Ako Partylist Rep. Rudy’s Cesar Fariñas; Board Member Domingo Ambrocio, Batac City Mayor Albert Chua and City Councilor Lucky Rene Bunye, Currimao Mayor Edward Quilala, Badoc Mayor Maximo D. Cajigal, and Pinili Mayor Rommel T. Labasan. PESO managers of the various LGUs were also present. 
The program beneficiaries extended their gratitude for their wages, which they shall use to augment their family expenses, especially in these challenging times caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
DOLE RO1 Regional Director Atty. Evelyn Ramos underscored the unwavering commitment of Labor Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III to provide immediate help to formal and informal workers.
