With their New Tractors from DOLE, Farmers in Rosario, LU Hope for Bigger Harvests
Some 420 farmers from Rosario, La Union are now hopeful of bigger harvests, through improved and enhanced farm machineries provided to them by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
DOLE Regional Office 1 recently awarded farm tractors to three farm associations in Rosario, La Union, through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
Rosario Mayor Bellarmin “Larry” A. Flores II, DOLE Regional Director Atty. Evelyn Ramos, and DOLE La Union Field Office Chief Veronica Corsino led the turnover of farm machineries to the members of the Bued CIS Dam Irrigators Service Association, Inabaan Sur Planters Irrigators Association, and Brownleaf Farmers Association on September 1, 2021.
Each of the association received four-wheel drive tractor worth P1,000,000. To supplement the motor vehicles, the LGU Rosario also gave the groups P750,000-worth of hand tractors with trailers. The group members were also enrolled in micro-insurance, and training for the handling and upkeep of the machineries.
DOLE RD Ramos echoed the strong commitment of DOLE Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” H. Bello III to uplift the lives of ordinary workers. “Malapit sa puso ni Apo Bebot ang mga ilokanong magsasaka kagaya ninyo,” RD Ramos said. “Kaya naman maaasahan po ninyo ang patuloy na serbisyo ng DOLE sa pangunguna ni Sec. Bebot.” END/Justin Paul Marbella.
