Jobstart Trainees in Alaminos Undergo Orientation
About 100 young workers in Alaminos City, Pangasinan have undergone orientation about their roles and responsibilities as trainees under the Jobstart Program, a full-cycle employment facilitation initiative of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
In an orientation program held on October 6, 2021 in Alaminos City, the trainees were oriented about the stages of the program, such as Life Skills Training, Job Matching and Referral to Partner Employers, Technical Training, Internship and their anticipated eventual Wage Employment.
They participants also officially sealed their engagement to the program through their signing of Participation Agreement.
During the program, DOLE Regional Office 1 Regional Director Atty. Evelyn Ramos, represented by DOLE Western Pangasinan Field Office Head Darwin Hombrebueno, expressed confidence to the trainees that they will become productive beneficiaries to the program.
Meanwhile, Alaminos City Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste and PESO Manager Eleanor Bruno manifested their gratitude to the DOLE for identifying Alaminos City as among the 40 LGUs as the implementation areas nationwide.
Jobstart began in 2016 through the enactment of the Republic Act No. 10869 or the Jobstart Philippines Act. It seeks to facilitate the employment of at-risk youth in the country, by addressing the gap on school-to-work transition which is one of the hurdles that curtail youth employment.
