Beauty and brains – that’s how people would describe Angiela Dorado, 23, of Candon City, Ilocos Sur.

And that should come as no surprise. An English Major, she finished Cum Laude in 2022 from North Luzon Philippines State College. She is attractive, she has a stunning smile, and she radiates a sultry, captivating personality.

But beauty and brains are not only what Anj possesses. She is one determined young lady, and on Labor Day, she has found a job that shall help her lead into a bright future.

Anj is one of the 602 jobseekers who were hired on the spot (HOTS) during the Labor Day Job Fairs spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 1 (DOLE RO1) on May 1.

“I arrived early at the venue, and I made sure I was in the proper headspace to do well in the interviews with my potential employers,” she said.

Anj braved the throng of eager jobseekers who flocked in Vigan City’s Provincial Farmers Livelihood Development Center.

Over 600 jobseekers registered on the day, who went from one desk to another to apply for the more than 6,000 job vacancies offered on the site.

Strongminded as she is, Anj floated her applications to at least six employers.

“I brought many copies of my resume, because I knew I was going to be on a job-search spree,” she shared with a light chuckle.

But with her striking credentials, coupled by her confident aura, it did not take long for Anj to get a job.

She was hired as a teacher by The Write Way Review Center, an educational institution in Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

“While her qualifications really impressed us, Anj was also able to fully signify her commitment for the job,” said Write Way’s Managing Director Katrina Aguila, her would-be employer.

The young lady learned the value of commitment in the workplace when she served as a government intern under DOLE’s Government Internship Program.

Through GIP, she learned the ropes of being a worker. Eventually, she imbibed the essence of putting one’s heart into their vocation.

With her newfound job, Anj is optimistic she can now help in her family’s finances. Being the eldest among three children, she is determined to help send her two younger brothers to school.

Her father a tricycle driver and her mother a government employee, Anj’s parents must be so lucky to have a daughter who is charming, intelligent, responsible, loving, and driven to achieve greater things in life.
