Residents of Ilocos Norte benefit from various projects and assistance on livelihood and employment, as the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 1 awarded grants to various local government units (LGUs) this October.

OIC Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga led the payout of stipends to 85 interns under the Government Internship Program (GIP) in the towns of Pinili, Paoay, Currimao and Badoc on October 13, 2022.

Displaced and disadvantaged workers who worked under the DOLE’s emergency employment program Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) in Badoc, Ilocos Norte were also awarded their wages.

Earlier this month, DOLE also awarded various projects on GIP, TUPAD and DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program to the LGUs Pagudpud, Bacarra, Laoag City, Sarrat, Vintar, Carasi, and Burgos.

The activities were graced by Ilocos Norte First District Cong. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, local government officials, Public Employment Services Office (PESO) managers, DOLE Technical Services Support Division (TSSD) Chief Teresa Bonavente, and DOLE Ilocos Norte Field Office personnel led by OIC-Chief Janelyn R. Martin.
