The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 1 (DOLE RO1) led by Regional Director Exequiel Ronie A. Guzman has reaffirmed its strong ties with the Philippine National Police La Union Police Provincial Office (PNP LUPPO), as the partnership aimed to bring DOLE services closer to far-flung communities.
In his message during the Signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Labor Education Seminar for LUPPO personnel on November 14, 2022, RD Guzman echoed the thrust of Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma to ensure that the programs and services of the Department reach Geographically-Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs).
“This is where we see the vital help of PNP comes in. Time and again, we recognize that our partners in the uniformed service can assist us in the smooth delivery of our aid to disadvantaged and low-income workers in the grassroots,” RD Guzman said.
LUPPO Provincial Director PCOL Lambert Suerte underscored that the PNP shall always be ready to assist DOLE in upholding its mandate on social protection for vulnerable workers.
In the MOA, the two agencies formalized partnership in the implementation of DOLE key programs namely the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) and the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
Said programs shall be implemented in all 20 component local government units of La Union.
The inter-agency partnership is in line with the continuing whole-of-government approach in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC).
