To provide workers and their families access to affordable farm produces and consumer goods, the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa was held on April 30 – May 3, 2023 in Ilocos Region in celebration of the Labor Day.

The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 1 (DOLE RO1) staged the Kadiwa ng Pangulo to also support farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to sell their goods direct to the market.

DOLE’s Labor Day Kadiwa was staged in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture (DA) RO1, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) RO1 and the local government units of Ilocos Sur and Dagupan City.

No less than Senator Imee Marcos visited the trade fair in Dagupan City on April 30. She reiterated President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s thrusts to uphold the interest of workers by instituting mechanisms to help ease the economic burdens brought by the pandemic.

The four-day fair generated total sales of P571,069.

Farmers and agripreneurs pooled by DA noted total sales of P417,385. They sold fresh farm produces such as vegetables, fruits and other staples.

MSMEs invited by the DTI, meanwhile, collectively reported P137,764 sales. They exhibited their various novelty products such as house essentials, grocery goods, and food items or pasalubongs.

DOLE-support livelihood projects also put up their products on sale. In total, the livelihood groups noted P15,920 sales.

DOLE Regional Director Exequiel Ronie A. Guzman extends his warmest gratitude to those who patronized the Kadiwa ng Pangulo during the Labor Day.

“This project was really a win-win situation both for our farmers and MSMEs, and for the workers and their families. Truly, when we work together and support each other’s endeavors, we progress as one community,” RD Guzman said.

DOLE RO1 likewise expressed its gratitude to the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur led by Governor Jerry Singson and Dagupan City led by Mayor Belen Fernandez for providing the venues for the fairs.
