Labor Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma met with the officers and staff of the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 1 (DOLE RO1) during his visit in the City of San Fernando, La Union on March 13, 2023.

The DOLE RO1 employees led by Regional Director Exequiel Ronie A. Guzman excitedly welcomed the Secretary, who said he is no stranger to the Ilocos Region.

“My father hails from Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, and my wife is from Asingan, Pangasinan,” the Secretary revealed.

DOLE RO1 presented the employees profile, where the Secretary was apprised of the staff’s  educational attainment, position status, sex disaggregation, address, among other profiles.

The accomplishments of DOLE RO1 were also presented as well as good practices and milestone achievements to bolster the regional office’s motto that “we work as one for Region 1.”

The Secretary also gave opportunity for the DOLE RO1 employees to air their concerns, not only on DOLE program and services, but also on administrative concerns and employee welfare.

Among the topics discussed were the request for additional plantilla positions and vehicles for the regional and field office, to further hasten the delivery of frontline service.

The Secretary also heard the concerns of the employees about the planned transfer of the Regional Office from City of San Fernando, La Union to its new home in Rosales, Pangasinan.

Sec. Laguesma assured the DOLE workers that comprehensive analysis of the plan shall be made, to ensure that employees’ welfare shall be addressed.

DOLE RO1 staff expressed profound gratitude to the Secretary, who were accompanied by Usec. Ciriaco Lagunzad III, Usec. Felipe Egargo Jr., OIC Usec. Dominique Rubia-Tutay, Asec. Warren Miclat, and HRDS Director Brenalyn Peji, for their visit to Region 1.
