City of San Fernando, La Union (22 Sept. 2011) – The Dagupan Field Office of the Department of Labor and Employment-Region 1 facilitated the settlement of P110,471 monetary entitlements of 53 workers after only one conciliation conference.

The monetary award represents the unpaid 13th month pay, backpay, tax refund, salary and overtime pay of 53 workers of Mirof Resources, Inc., a business process outsourcing company based in Makati City.

Deployed at Coca-Cola Calasiao in Pangasinan, the awardees, who are forklift operators, loaders/pickers, checkers, production workers, material utilities and clerks, brought their concerns before Mr. Emmanuel Hagad of the DOLE Dagupan Field Office on 22 August 2011.  During the conference on 19 September 2011, the employer paid the claims of the workers, resulting in the amicable settlement of the instant case.

Roy Victorio, one of the employees, thanked the DOLE for facilitating their claims.  “Hindi pa po maibibigay sa amin ang aming hinihinging kabayaran kapag hindi pa po kami pumunta dito sa DOLE.  Nagpapasalamat kami at natulungan niyo po kaming makuha ang dapat para sa amin,” he said.

Another awardee, Wilfredo Quiam, said, “Malaki po ang naitulong niyo sa amin at nagpapasalamat po kami.”

DOLE 1 Director Henry John Jalbuena said the settled labor dispute is among those placed under the Single-Entry Approach 30-mandatory conciliation-mediation services of all labor and employment cases which is a pet program of Labor Chief Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz.

He said from January to 16 September, 490 cases benefitting 439 workers with P6,443,011 settlement award have been facilitated through the SENA.   asv
